A Green DOD?

When I asked myself this question I couldn’t wait to get to my computer to start digging. Here’s what I found:

In 2002, funding was set aside by Congress to assess the renewable energy potential of U.S. military installations. The reports show real promise with the DOD consuming about 8.3% of its electricity from renewable sources in 2005 with a goal of 25% by 2025. The reports are all available at the following link:

My research led to an interesting discovery. The GovEnergy conference being held this August is being sponsored by the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. A clear indication that need to find better sources of energy is a matter of national security. And even better news for the great companies trying to build a future in this market.
