Time to Build an iPhone App

It’s time. I’m jumping in. I wonder how cold the water is.

Driven by the need (I think) for an application my fiancee pinpointed, I have decided to become an iPhone developer. The SDK gets rave reviews and I can already attest as to why. Within hours of deciding to take the plunge, my MacBook was transformed into a developers paradise with a host of tools and an iPhone simulater that is astounding.

This is also somewhat of a social experiment.  I am not a developer and am part of a growing list of entrepreneurs who are now able to manage their way through the development process thanks in large part to the open source movement and the available of many resources. Apple is doing a good job of straddling the fence between managing highly proprietary OS and applications while opening up the development platforms to the masses. At this point, I don’t know how far I will be able to get on my own. But I like the challenge.

As part of the process, I’ve also started a Meetup group in the DC area for iPhone and Android developers and marketers. http://www.meetup.com/The-Washington-iPhone-Android-Developers-Marketers-Meetup/

I’ll post the link to the App when finished. Wish me luck.
